About Evan
My name is Evan De Groot, founder of Evan's Outdoor Store, official US retailer of Envirofit cookstove and lighting products. I live out in the country in Northwestern Iowa, on an old country school house acre of land I often refer to as "Heaven". There is no other place I would rather be than on a quiet gravel road surrounded by silage corn (which can get 12- 14 feet tall in a good year), with a nice big garden, a friendly dog named Boo, a milk goat named Jolene, and an assortment of other varmints from year to year like chickens, turkeys, rabbits, and ducks.
In a strange twist of fate, I found myself asking how I could make my maple syrup without using expensive fossil fuels, like propane, and yet get better efficiency out of burning wood with less emissions. Ultimately, this quest lead me on a path to Wood-Gas and Rocket Stove technology, and eventually to a relationship with Envirofit. I am now the proud authorized retailer of Envirofit products across the US and beyond.
