Soda Pop Cobbler

There are a lot of different versions of this recipe, and almost as many different names to it.  But it is one of the easiest deserts you can make in a dutch oven.  It only has 3 ingredients so is easy to remember.

2 cans of pie filling

1 can of cake mix

1 can of soda pop

It seems like the most common variation calls for 2 cans of pie filling on the bottom.  Could be Apple, Cherry, Blueberry, Strawberry.   One box of white or yellow cake mix, on top of the filling.  Then pour a can of 7-UP, Sprite, Ginger-Ale, or similar soda on top.  Mix the Soda Pop and cake mix a bit, kind of hard to do as it is a bit frothy, but try and get the big lumps broken up a bit.  Then bake it till it is nice and bubbly.

Another variation on this which I like is  Apple Pie Filling, Spice Cake Mix, and a Can of Root Beer.

I make this in an old beat up aluminum dutch oven I got at a thrift store, over one of my CH2200's, with about a dozen charcoal briquettes in it.   I also like to use a Camp Chef Dutch Oven Dome over the top, which is just a reflective fabric that keeps in your heat, so you can get some top heating, without having to put coals on top.
